Many people use the terms "stuffed toys" and "plush toys" interchangeably; however, this is technically incorrect, as plush toys represent merely one specific type of stuffed toy. Based on the type of filling material used, stuffed toys can be broadly categorized into the following groups:
First, there are foam-particle toys-also known as "soft-body toys"-which utilize foam beads as their filling material.
Second are plush toys; these typically employ PP cotton (polyester fiberfill) as their stuffing.
Third are plastic-filled toys; these are generally filled with gas or air-toys such as roly-poly dolls fall into this category.
Stuffed toys can also be classified based on other dimensions, such as their exterior fabric and overall appearance. Based on the exterior material, they can be divided into long-pile plush toys, velvet toys, and brushed-velvet toys. Based on appearance, they can be categorized into standard stuffed animal toys; animal toys or dolls equipped with advanced electronic components, mechanical movements, or sound modules; and various types of holiday-themed gift toys.
